Church

Try to hold a vision of your local church (both building and people) as a beacon of God’s light in a time of growing environmental darkness. Each action here can be a step towards that vision.

Church can be a community that witnesses to another set of values – the values of God’s Kingdom.

Church can celebrate the Sabbath rest of all creation, and model living lightly in God’s world... or church can be enslaved to a negative vision that shuts out nature, and reduces stewardship from caring for God’s world to saving a few pennies on the cost of Fair Trade coffee or recycled paper.

You may find that it takes much patience and grace to help others in your church share a vision of Living Lightly.

Try to stay positive in all that you do.
