In God’s creation nothing is wasted: autumn leaves become spring’s fertile mulch; every part of creation has a fruitful role to play. In the UK we each throw away an average ½ tonne per year, at least 60% of which could be recycled. Tackling waste is not just a technical exercise, but a spiritual discipline. Every bin-bag we thoughtlessly discard is an offering to the idols of consumerism. In contrast, every act that reduces our waste can be an act of worship.
