November 2009: Spare your heating

Have you turned your heating on yet?

Depending on where you live, the answer may still be no, given the amazingly mild weather we've been having. Whether you have or not, look at your thermostat (or the individual controls on your radiators) and see what it is set at. If it is above 17 or 18 degrees then turn it down.

When is the heating programmed to come on and off? Unless you already have it on for the shortest time possible, cut the time it is on by 15 minutes. If you survive that, cut it by another 15, and then another...
