Church Away Day

This last weekend I went back home to do the Away Day for my parents' church. In all honesty I didn't have amazingly high expectations for the day and, really, did it as a favour for my mum, who gives so much to her little village Anglican church and is so committed. We were a small group of us (18 all-in-all I think) and we met at a beautiful big Catholic retreat centre that used to be a convent. They had asked me to speak on climate change and our role as Christians, which I willingly did! And, of course, what started out as a favour turned into a genuinely enjoyable day, with a group of people who love Jesus and want to serve him in whatever way they can. The day was much appreciated - one lady (actually, my primary school teacher when I was young!) said that it was the first time she'd really understood climate change and its implications, and another chap got thoroughly stuck in and said he wished it could've been for the whole day.

So thank you, God, for a good day and may each one of those people there be inspired to love your world and play their part in looking after all that you have made.
